“Amihan” to bring rains to Luzon, Visayas
MANILA – Isolated light rains will prevail over most parts of the country due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan” affecting Luzon and the Visayas, the meteorological office said on Wednesday.
In its 4 am weather report, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecast light rains in Batanes and Cagayan, including the Babuyan Islands; light rains isolated in Metro Manila and the Visayas; and isolated rain showers in Mindanao.
“Good weather will prevail over the Visayas and Mindanao. Isolated rain showers in Mindanao are caused by localized thunderstorms,” said Aldczar Aurelio, weather specialist at PAGASA.
During this time, moderate to strong winds and moderate to heavy seas will prevail over Luzon and the Visayas.
Strong to gale force winds will blow over the northern coasts of Luçon and the eastern coasts of central and southern Luçon.
PAGASA has advised fishing boats and other small craft not to venture out to sea, and larger vessels are alerted to big waves.
Winds will be light to moderate over Mindanao with light to moderate seas.
The temperature in Metro Manila could reach up to 30 ° C; Kalayaan and Puerto Princesa Islands, up to 32 ° C; Zamboanga, up to 34 ° C; and Davao up to 33 ° C. (ANP)
