YARMOUTH, Mass .– Four people were rescued from the Tom Slaughter III fishing boat off Yarmouth shortly before midnight on Wednesday, the Coast Guard reported.

The Coast Guard said no injuries or fuel pollution were reported when the 45-foot response boat from Station Woods Hole recovered the crew. The 61-foot Tom Slaughter III ran aground on rocks and had started to take on water in the Point Gammon area, about half a mile south of Yarmouth.

The Coast Guard said the owner was working with a commercial salvage company to recover the vessel.

The State’s Marine Fisheries Division says the Tom Slaughter III is owned by Howard Monte Rome of Intershell International, based in Gloucester, and that the vessel holds scallop and shellfish licenses.

Rome could not be reached for comment. The ship’s home port was unclear, as Intershell has ships working in Gloucester, New Bedford and Hyannis, according to its webpage.
