NOAA seeks to fill Sea Fisheries Advisory Committee seats

NOAA Fisheries is accepting applications until July 29 to fill vacancies on the Marine Fisheries Advisory Committee, which advises the Department of Commerce on all matters relating to living marine resources for which the agency is responsible.
The committee is responsible for researching, evaluating, and providing advice and recommendations to the Department of Commerce and NOAA on the development and implementation of agency policies that address scientific and regulatory programs essential to the mission of NOAA Fisheries.
Members can be associated with tribes, indigenous peoples and environmental organizations. Federal and state employees, members of a regional fisheries management board and registered federal lobbyists will not be considered.
Their expertise may relate to areas ranging from commercial and subsistence fishing to the seafood industry, ecosystems and the human dimensions or social sciences associated with living marine resources.
Members serve for three years and can serve a second consecutive term, said Heidi Lovett, deputy director of MAFAC. The committee can be composed of 21 members in total, who meet twice a year in person or virtually.
