The Government of Tasmania is pleased to announce the appointment of Rae Burrows as the new Managing Director of Biosecurity Tasmania.
Ms Burrows succeeds former Managing Director Dr Lloyd Klumpp, who retired last year after a decade in the post.
Ms Burrows brings to this position extensive experience in biosecurity and fisheries management and served in the position for almost a year where she competently led biosecurity in Tasmania as part of the ongoing response to restrictions on fisheries. COVID-19 borders.
Ms. Burrows has developed and led key biosecurity policies and programs, including operational implementation of Tasmanian border biosecurity management, animal health and welfare, product integrity , food safety and traceability, and invasive species management.
These activities are designed to protect Tasmania from the incursion of exotic pests and diseases, maximize safe food production and humane livestock management to safeguard Tasmania’s reputation and competitive advantage in food markets. and tourism.
Ms. Burrows is also President of the Tasmanian Dairy Industry Authority (TDIA).
