‘Ted Lasso’ reimagined as a horror film in fan-made trailer
London-based video editor Francis Siberini had weekend plans when he suddenly caught the flu. Now stuck at home with hours of free time, he began to imagine what Ted lasso would look as if Apple TV + ‘s Emmy Award winning sports comedy were a horror movie.
“I have chosen Ted lasso because it is apparently Ted lasso fever right now, ”Siberini told SYFY WIRE. “I really like the show and I thought at random to try to recut it to make it look like a classic horror movie. I thought that would be really funny because the show is often seen as overwhelmingly positive. “
The fan-created trailer highlights the character of Nathan Shelley (played by Nick Mohammed), the newly promoted assistant coach with many issues he faced throughout Season 2. He has a bit of a nasty streak. , but that brings it to another level (then a some others for good measure).
“I knew it would be Nate as the villain character because of his awkward energy, which I knew could be manipulated into something much more sinister,” Siberini explains. “So I ended up going through every episode of season 2, looking for quotes and shots that I could take out of context and manipulate with the magic of the edit… I tried to create that feeling of a menacing threat by adding slow zoom to various shots. I think it really helps create the scary feeling – like someone is watching. “

Siberini sent the trailer to a few Ted lasso fan accounts on Twitter before spending the night. The last thing he expected was to wake up on Monday morning and see that the video had racked up thousands of views on social media. In addition, he has been shared by cast members (like Mohammed and Brett Goldstein) and enjoyed by Mr. Lasso himself, Jason Sudeikis.
“Everyone has been so nice. Ted lasso The community is truly a wonderful corner of the Internet, “concludes the editor.” All day long, it got bigger and bigger. Even Apple TV tweeted it. I’ve mostly got over my flu now, but I’m so thrilled with how it all turned out. Mainly because I turned a negative (being sick) into a positive (doing something) And luckily for me, everyone really liked it! “
The Season 2 finale of Ted lasso (“Inverting the Pyramid of Success”) premieres on Apple TV + this Friday, October 8.
