Tributes have been left at the scene of an alleged murder after a boy was allegedly stabbed in the Black Country. Bouquets of flowers, liquor bottles and drinking glasses now lie near where the 15-year-old tragically died in Wolverhampton.

A note left on a bouquet of flowers reads “rest in peace” with a heart. The tributes were left under a tree in a green space in Pendeford.

It comes after the schoolboy was fatally injured on Friday May 28. Paramedics were called to the scene and began treating the injured child near a canal bridge on Reapers Walk before calling police at around 4.15pm.

Today, a huge police presence remains at the scene of the alleged murder. Police vans were seen close to Cornfield, while an extensive cordon is in place on both sides of the main Shropshire canal.

The cordon has closed parts of Reapers Walk, while Way Side is also blocked between Reapers Walk and Deer Walk. It also stretches across parkland between Tebworth Close and Howland Close, which leads to the canal bridge on Reapers Walk.

The police tape cordoned off the park, with officers securing the cordon near the railings of an outdoor gym and an abandoned building. Officers were seen speaking to owners of river boats moored near the site, while a forensic team was also on hand.

A 16-year-old boy from Wolverhampton has since been arrested on suspicion of murder. Police have also arrested a 46-year-old woman from Wolverhampton on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Both remain in custody this afternoon. Detectives are working to establish how the schoolboy died and are looking for evidence in the area, including trawling via CCTV.
